Theatre eXceptional's education programs are open to adults ages 17+ and are centered around giving theatre education to adults with disabilities.

Beginner Classes

Theatre 101

This introductory class covers all the basics- improv games, acting exercises, singing and voice work, movement/dance, playwriting, and more, all while creating a performance for the showcase.  (REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES - except other Beginner classes)

TheatreX classes are open  and available to all adults 17+ with disabilities 

WHEN

Classes typically take place on Mondays and Tuesdays between 6 pm and 9 pm - please refer to class registration for official details.

WHERE

Classes are located in Hillsborough and Pinellas County. The exact location often changes according to each session.

HOW MUCH

Tuition for each class is $300.00 for the 12-week session. Students can take more than one class if available for an additional cost.

Advanced Program

Advanced Musical Theatre

Advanced Acting

Musical Theatre

In this class, students will create and perform in a small musical, learning how to sing and dance while working as a team. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Students will get a chance to learn to play their very own recorder! Explore various aspects of this instrument including the history, hand positionings, techniques AND reading music. Space is limited! Additional $15.00 for class supplies. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Recorder Class

In this class, students will learn how to warm up their bodies, expand their range of motion, and learn complex dance movements, incorporating them with musical theatre songs. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

In this class, students will learn how to warm up their bodies, expand their range of motion, and learn complex dance movements, incorporating them with musical theatre songs. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Sketch Comedy

"Sketch Comedy" immerses students in comedic writing through collaborative exercises and feedback that help develop comedic timing, character depth, and witty punchlines. Students will also create sketches that will be performed by fellow actors in the program, letting them experience the full sketch creation process from developing ideas to stage production. (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Musical Theatre

"Musical Theatre" is an immersive class where students craft original characters and learn how to sing, dance, and act all at the same time! Through creative exercises, participants develop singing, acting, and storytelling skills while contributing to every aspect of the production. Join us in bringing unique characters and melodies to life on stage! (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Did you just love Theatre 101?? Are you ready to take the next step in your acting training? Then this class is for you! With a similar format at Theatre 101, this class will take students a little deeper into their acting training - character development, movement, script work and memorization.
 (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Hand Drumming

In this hand drumming and percussion class students will be exploring the world of rhythm. Students will get the chance to explore different cultures and the different percussion instruments from those regions. Students will perform in the Spring class showcase.
 (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Interested in learning about The Bard? In this class, we will learn more about how to read and perform Shakespeare’s work. Each student will be assigned a character from a classic play by Shakespeare that they will workshop during the class.
 (Prerequisite: Theatre 101)

Did you love Theatre 101?? Are you ready to take the next step in your acting training? Then this class is for you! With a similar format at Theatre 101, this class will take students a little deeper into their acting training - character development, movement, script work and memorization.
